In September of 2013 here in Colorado, we experienced devastating flash floods in many areas of our state. Kelly & Aaron’s wedding was scheduled just days after the first of the flash floods hit, and with all of their guests flying in from out of state, it was questionable whether or not their wedding would be able to take place the weekend that they had planned. From Kelly’s dress being stranded at the cleaners in a town that had been evacuated, to the National Guard turning away guests and vendors attempting to get to the wedding location (Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park), it seemed at one point that none of their plans were going to happen as they’d intended. Nonetheless, even though many of the details amazingly did come together at the last minute, their attitudes were the true testament to what their day was really about. One thing I always remind my brides of on the wedding day is that, if nothing goes according to plan other than being happily married at the end of the day, then their wedding was nothing short of perfection. One of the most memorable parts of the day in my mind was when Aaron was giving a toast at the reception he said, with a smile on his face, “Over the last year of planning this wedding, we had many people ask us, ‘Why Colorado?’. My answer was always that same: ‘Because it’s always sunny and it’s easy to get to!'”. Read more of their amazing story over on Snippet & Ink today!
